Treasures and Doodles from London
I loved being back in London, even for a short time.
For those who missed the blog post from a few weeks ago - I had the opportunity to live in London on a work-abroad/exchange program 23 years ago, immediately after graduating college. I lived and worked there for three months and then spent 4 weeks traveling Europe by train.
I enjoyed visiting some of my old stomping grounds, seeing what had changed and stayed the same. I loved visiting places I had only read about in books. My two favorite highlights were the Sherlock Holmes Museum and the historic art shop L. Cornelissen & Son, established in 1855. The Docklands Museum in Limehouse was a worthwhile use of time as well.
I am quite proud of the restraint I showed while shopping at L. Cornelissen & Son. I purchased a small set of pastel chalks handmade in London and two bottles of ink made using medieval recipes.
I didn’t paint or sketch as much as I thought I would, but I took hundreds of photos for inspiration later.
Please enjoy some of my travel journal pages and favorite photos below.
Let me know if you have any questions about traveling to London. I’d be happy to share the knowledge I have of the area.
