Sitting in Stillness

When was the last time you sat alone for a solid two hours outside without any interruptions or interactions?

I had the opportunity to do just that last week.
I had attempted to rally some troops to go along with me, but the timing of the stars and the schedules wouldn’t mesh, so I took myself on a solo painting adventure.

IT WAS BLISS!

Sitting at the edge of the Yaquina River

I was alone with bird song, snacks, my travel paint box, and my thoughts (which had been tamed by a rigorous journalling session that morning).

You would think that arranging an afternoon to sit in the sun on a weekend would not be that difficult, but sadly, I can’t remember the last time I sat outside without an agenda.
Technically, I had an agenda on this occasion—to paint.
While I sketched and painted a little, I found myself watching the wildlife, listening to the birds, and just being a human on the side of a river.

Sitting by the river in the sun, gets a five star review from me!
Must do it again, as soon as possible.
Next time I will bring more snacks and scope out a good pee spot before committing to a place to settle in.

Please share any moments of bliss below!
