Parts of My Painting Process

I've had an idea that I've been mulling over: to share more of my painting process. I've tried various tripods, but they need to be more up to the task of filming a flat desk. So I did some digging, read many reviews, watched some YouTube, and came up with this delicious contraption!

It does it all! Holds a phone an iPad and has a ring light with 10 brightness settings!

The two biggest plusses I’ve noticed since setting up this stand are:

1. I have brighter and more consistent light!!
This is good and bad because I can continue to paint even when the light outside changes. Bad because now I don’t ever have to stop painting. EVER.

2. When I am filming, and my phone is in the holder above my head, I can’t see it; therefore, I am not as liable to get distracted by it!

So far, the only downside is it blocks my view of my memory holder, but I’ll correct that later. And I’ve had to dive into learning to post on YouTube. That has been a steeper learning curve than I anticipated, but I shall prevail.

Please find below one of my first YouTube videos. I promise I will get better at filming, editing, and using this platform.

If the video isn’t of interest to you, I do understand. Sometimes I want quiet time, and sometimes it feels like video is taking over. The above video is just me painting with music playing in the background.

Below is a photo progression of the painting I’m working on in the video. It’s interesting to see in this photo progression how much light changes throughout the day while I’m painting.
