Make Space for What You Love & Share It.

I heard this quote the other day, and it sang to me!

Life is better when you make space for what you love. This world can rob you of every ounce of happiness that you possess—if you let it.
Please, be intentional about giving yourself something to look forward to.
Please, remember to prioritize your joy.
— Michell C. Clark

It sang to me because I was like YES!!! I do this, I make space for what I love, I prioritize dog walks in the woods, painting in the garage, and spending time with the most lovely people on the planet.
I save for travel and tacos.
I eat cake on every occasion.

This quote made me feel like I am winning at life - I do the prescribed things!

I patted myself on the back - rather forcefully.

And then later, THE SAME DAY, I saw this quote -

My Work is Loving the World.
— Mary Oliver

I love this quote just as much, maybe more.

I love that I make art, and after many, many, mannnnyyy years, I gained the confidence to put it out into the world.
Making art and sharing it is my way of loving the world.

When my art is a painting of a memory with a friend, who I’ve been missing that is loving the world.

Big Creek Reservoir - Painting by me June 2024

When I encourage a young artist I’ve met in the gallery to keep painting so that the world can see their art, I am spreading love and care into the world.

When I read an author’s writings on growing up and feeling different, I feel seen and understood; they are spreading love and care into the world.
(thank you, Mary)

And what a beautiful world we live in.

The view from Cape Outlook

I received another reminder via a book I was reading in this same snapshot of time.
The message being that small acts of service, love, kindness, caring, and compassion can build up to a lifetime of caring. Can be a lifetime of loving the world.

Just as sketching, writing, dancing, whittling, stitching, or practicing for five minutes a day, has the possibility of becoming a body of work - it can become your love letter to the world.

Please let this post remind you to make space for what you love, value it, and protect it with everything you’ve got.

Let this be your love letter to the world, a testament to your acts of love and kindness. Share it with one, share it with all, but most importantly, share it.

Our work (yours and mine) is loving the world.

How do you love the world?
