My goal as an artist is to add joy, humor, beauty, and a little wonder to each day.
There are plenty of things wrong with the world, but there is a lot of good too and that is worth noticing, calling out, & remembering.
I want my art to be that reminder.

Jill Myer

Hello!

Hello! My name is Jill, and I'm delighted you are here.

Welcome to my corner of the information highway. Please use this space as a rest stop for your brain.

Walk around, stretch, and touch your toes.

Thankfully, there is a light breeze, so it doesn't smell like a typical rest stop, and nothing is made from stainless steel, so enjoy, but please wash your hands, don't write on the walls, and try not to pee on the seat.

You will find multiple art portfolios from encaustic (paint made from beeswax, tree resin, and pigment) to watercolor, collage, and a swath of digital experiments.

On my favorite days, I drink tea and paint watercolors in the morning as the sun comes over the trees. Then, after a late breakfast and a long dog walk on the beach, usually in the rain because it's the coast, I spend the afternoon in the garage painting with fire and hot wax.
I look forward to making art every day and hope to share the joy of this journey with you.
I am also a connoisseur of snacks, so I'm the best person to go on a journey with!

Speaking of snacks. The Nibbler is my bi-weekly newsletter, and you should absolutely subscribe to it because it's delightful and fun. You can subscribe at the bottom of this page.

Watercolor Portfolio

There is nothing more simplistic or difficult than watercolor paint on paper. There is no hiding or fudging in watercolor, and there is little room for error.

What you see is what you get; watercolor has a raw honesty, and I love it for that honesty.

Mug in Digital Rendering

I am interested and intimidated by working digitally, so I thought I’d better dive in. I enjoy gadgets and technology, so there was no reason not to start working digitally except that it’s so different, and my work looked terrible.

I’ve taken several online courses to improve, and once I caught a gear, I decided to take on a 100-day project to cement the new skills and deepen my skill set.

Encaustic Portfolio

Encaustic is fun and daring. Working with hot wax and flame-lit torches adds drama and excitement to making art.
The wax flows and dances in a way that no other medium does. It’s unpredictable as the wax does whatever it wants. To work with encaustic is to give up all illusions of control.
